The promoter EnLive announced the unexpected cancellation of the concert scheduled for this Saturday, May 3, at the Maracanã Sports Complex, where Maldita Vecindad and the Chilean band Gondwana were set to perform. According to an official statement, the decision was made due to a breach of contract by the artists and their representation, headed by José Tajonar and the company TMBC The Music Business Company.
EnLive expressed regret over the stance taken by Maldita Vecindad, Gondwana, and TMBC, stating that they had met all payments and conditions stipulated in the contract on time and appropriately. Despite the promoter offering superior technical and logistical conditions at the Maracanã Sports Complex, the bands did not conduct the previously agreed soundcheck.
The organization expressed its surprise at what happened, particularly because the day before, Maldita Vecindad performed without incidents at the Teatro Morelos in Toluca, also organized by EnLive. EnLive claims to have documentary and testimonial evidence supporting the availability and adequacy of the setup hours before the show.
Due to the breach by the artists' representation, EnLive reserves the right to take legal action to protect its interests. So far, neither TMBC nor the members of the involved bands have issued official statements regarding this matter. The cancellation has generated various reactions on social media.
