Children living with their mothers at the Women's Social Reintegration Center of Santa Martha Acatitla, in situations of deprivation of liberty, had an advance celebration for Children's Day. The vice president of the Human Rights Commission of the capital's Congress, Rebeca Peralta, visited the 31 children residing in this prison with their mothers.

"The girls and boys in this center lead an isolated life, without access to public spaces, family, and experiences that any child their age should have. That's why it was essential for us to celebrate their day in a special way, different from the rest of the year," expressed Rebeca Peralta.

During the celebration, the children received gifts including dolls, educational games, and ride-on cars. In addition, they enjoyed cake, cupcakes, milkshakes, and other treats.

"These children are invisible to many. While today the restaurants are full of families celebrating with their children, here in Santa Martha Acatitla there are 31 children who also have the right to celebration and who are not responsible for the situation they are in. From Congress, we wanted to make them visible," said Rebeca Peralta.
