The Chalco-Santa Martha Trolebus will launch on May 12, 2025, benefiting 3 million people with faster transit times. Claudia Sheinbaum announced the project details.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the inauguration date of the Chalco–Santa Marta Trolleybus, a project that will benefit 3 million people. The project, overseen by the current governor of the State of Mexico, Delfina Gómez, in conjunction with Sheinbaum, will have 15 stations along its 18.5 kilometers route.

The stations of the Chalco–Santa Marta Trolleybus include Santa Marta Terminal, Los Reyes, La Caldera, Apolocalco, and Eje 10. Additionally, it will have connections to other transport systems, such as the Cablebus Line 2 that goes from Iztapalapa to Santa Martha and Line A of the Metro that goes from Santa Martha to La Paz.

This modern mass transit system will offer express service, reducing travel times from Chalco to Mexico City from 2 hours to 45 minutes, and in express service to 33 minutes, benefiting an estimated daily demand of between 120,000 and 230,000 users. The Trolleybus route will cover the Mexico-Puebla Highway and the Mexico-Cuautla road, with strategically located stations.

The Chalco–Santa Marta Trolleybus will begin operations on May 12, 2025, as announced by Claudia Sheinbaum in a press conference, as part of the Eastern Plan of the State of Mexico. "In a week from this Monday, we will inaugurate the Elevated Trolleybus of Chalco," Sheinbaum indicated.
