Disruptions in Mexico City Metro Service

The Mexico City Metro Line 8 faces service interruptions between Santa Anita and Constitución due to electrical system reviews. Passengers are advised to take RTP buses for alternate routes.

Disruptions in Mexico City Metro Service

The provisional service operates from Santa Anita to Garibaldi, while technical staff work to restore circulation on the entire Line 8 of the Mexico City Metro. Failures were reported on Monday in the stretch from Santa Anita to Constitución, forcing users to exit through the tunnel.

Passengers on this line remained resigned to waiting for RTP buses to mostly travel the route to Iztapalapa and return home after the workday. Amid the chaos, users found themselves stranded on the tracks and had to walk to reach the nearest station due to the failures on Line 8.

According to information shared on social media and confirmed by the Passenger Transport Network (RTP), a provisional support service was offered on the stretch from Santa Anita to Constitución de 1917. The situation is set against a backdrop of crisis due to flat tires affecting passengers on different lines and the recent resignation of the Metro's General Director, Guillermo Calderón.

Guillermo Calderón explained through a message on social media that the failure on Line 8 was due to a review of the electrical system. Currently, service was only provided between Garibaldi and La Viga, while technical staff worked to restore circulation on the entire line. Users were asked to follow the instructions of RTP unit staff during the transfer.
