Hugo Mejuto, creator of the GranDiosas concept, announced that the event scheduled for May 8 in the Gustavo A Madero borough was canceled due to a problem unrelated to the singers and the GranDiosas production. The collapse of a stage in the plaza of the borough during Mother's Day celebrations caused the suspension of the show featuring singers Alicia Villarreal, Angela Carrasco, and Ana Cirré.
The incident was triggered by strong gusts of wind that knocked down a metallic structure where the artists were to perform. Seven people were injured, two of them seriously. Elements of Civil Protection, special medical units from ERUM, the Red Cross, and the Fire Brigade are providing assistance to those affected in the Villa Gustavo A. Madero neighborhood.
Videos and images of the collapse and the prompt response from emergency teams were shared on social media. Following the incident, the GranDiosas production canceled the event and announced that together with the Gustavo A Madero borough, they will provide information about a new date for the celebration.
