More than a hundred young people, including students, youth leaders, and high-performance athletes, gathered at the Mexican Youth Institute for the launch of the National Day of Tequios for Peace and Against Addictions, an initiative that aligns with the strategy of the Government of Mexico led by Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, which puts youth at the center of the transformation of their communities.
At this event, IMJUVE managed to collaborate with all three levels of government, as well as key institutions such as the Ministry of Public Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Welfare, the Ministry of the Environment, the Undersecretariat of Upper Secondary Education, the Undersecretariat of Higher Education, CONADE, TecNM, IPN, CONALEP, and several state and municipal governments, along with student leaders and prominent athletes.
During the press conference, Abraham Carro Toledo, General Director of IMJUVE, urged young people to be part of history through the Tequios, which represent the building of community, the improvement of coexistence, and the community environment. Various personalities such as Cristina Cruz Cruz, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, Rommel Pacheco, and Rodrigo Rojas Navarrete were also present.
It is important to highlight that Tequios are community work activities with pre-Hispanic roots and, on this occasion, around 2,000 simultaneous events will take place in more than 600 municipalities across the country, which is a historic fact. The energy and commitment of the young people present at the event were evident, showing enthusiasm for participating in this initiative that promotes social responsibility, healthy fun, and the possibility of transforming their environments.
