Mexican Fátima Bosch, 25, won the Miss Universe pageant, which held its final on Friday in Thailand. Veena Praveenar, from whose country the runner-up came, and Venezuelan Stephany Abasaly, who took third place. Bosch secured the title at a gala where women from 120 countries and territories participated, including nine mothers, a transgender woman, a genocide survivor, and the first-ever Palestinian representative in the pageant's history. The Mexican was one of the pageant's most viral moments when she demanded respect from Thai Nawat Itsaragrisil, in charge of the event in Bangkok, and who told her to be quiet during a live broadcast.
