Mexico Intensifies Road Maintenance for Easter Holidays

Mexico's transport ministry has ramped up road repair work during the Easter holidays. The goal is to ensure safety and smooth traffic for millions of travelers. Authorities have issued several recommendations for a safe journey.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) reports that in conjunction with the Easter holidays, work on the Mega Bachetón 2026 project has been intensified on the federal toll-free road network. The objective is to ensure that the roads are in optimal conditions to maintain traffic flow, prevent accidents, and protect the integrity of travelers. For the Government of Mexico, road maintenance is a priority, which is why routine conservation works, section and bridge rehabilitation, as well as continuous improvement actions are carried out. It is worth noting that this year, 18,000 kilometers of the Federal Road Network will be rehabilitated, and routine maintenance will be carried out on the more than 43,000 kilometers that make it up. In addition, signage will be reinforced so that drivers are aware of restrictions, speed limits, their destination, potential hazards on the road, and information about services. The agency headed by Jesús Esteva Medina permanently promotes awareness campaigns to protect the integrity of families traveling during this period. In this regard and to have a safer trip during these Easter holidays, the SICT issues the following recommendations: Drive with caution, Respect speed limits, Use seat belts, Avoid using cell phones, Do not consume alcoholic beverages or toxic substances, Respect traffic signals, Verify the correct condition of the vehicle. In the event of an incident, notify the authorities, call your insurance company and follow their instructions, and prioritize the well-being of the people involved. It is important to provide all information to emergency services so that injured people can receive help as soon as possible. The numbers to call in case of a traffic accident are: 911 Emergencies, 074 CAPUFE, 088 National Guard, 078 Green Angels.
