Mexico Announces First National Drill 2026

The Government of Mexico has called on public institutions, private entities, and the general population to participate in the First National Drill 2026. This is a key exercise to strengthen the culture of Civil Protection and improve the capacity to respond to emergencies.

The drill will take place on Wednesday, May 6, at 11:00. At that time, an alert will be sent to mobile phones. Authorities have asked the public not to be alarmed, as this is merely a preventive exercise. The main objective is for internal brigades and citizens to practice evacuation protocols, identify safe zones, and improve reaction times.

All properties must be registered on the official platform before May 5. The registration is free and individual, and no one can charge for this procedure. It is also recommended to define a risk hypothesis according to the location, as not all regions of the country are exposed to earthquakes.

This first national drill coincides with the 40th anniversary of the National Civil Protection System, reinforcing its national relevance. These exercises allow for evaluating failures, reinforcing preventive measures, and fostering active societal participation in the event of possible emergencies.
