Photography is a sensitivity that allows one to reveal the essence of what is framed. Through the lens, the celebration of a patronal festival, the routine of workers, the customs that bring communities to life, and many other moments can tell much more than the simple fact itself. With that premise, Huawei announces the opening of the call for the XMAGE Awards 2026, a global initiative that invites photographers, creators, and image enthusiasts to document stories that reflect the spirit of their communities. Registrations are now open, and the registration period will close on August 16, 2026, so there is still time to conceive and materialize a visual proposal. The winners will be announced in November. Community as the axis Directed especially at those who use mobile devices to capture images, the contest seeks to boost the creativity and sensitivity of young people. For this edition, Mexico participates under the theme Humanity and Local Culture, a call to portray the identity, traditions, and everyday moments that bring the country to life. Through this theme, the aim is for participants to use their perspective to show the soul of Mexico to the world. Categories and prizes This year's edition contemplates 100 winners: three will be recognized with the Grand Prize and will receive 10,000 dollars each, while the remaining 97 will make up the XMAGE 100 and will receive an award of 1,500 dollars. All selected participants will also receive an electronic certificate from the organization. In this way, the initiative seeks to promote visual expression and recognize the power of the image as a tool to connect cultures, emotions, and realities. From urban scenes and local traditions to human portraits and spontaneous moments, each photograph represents an opportunity to tell authentic stories with global resonance. To encompass different perspectives and ways of life, the contest is divided into nine categories: So Far So Close, Colors and Shadows, Good Night, Faces, A Moving World, Experimental Lab, Active Moments, Storyboard, and Action. More about the contest The call is open to both Huawei users and any photography enthusiast, who can participate by sharing their images through the official platform. The proposals will be evaluated by an international panel of experts, with special attention to those that combine creativity, technique, and visual narrative. With this initiative, the technology brand reaffirms its commitment to innovation in mobile imaging and the strengthening of creative communities around the world, positioning photography as a universal language capable of transcending borders.
