In 2024, 31 years are commemorated since the staging of La Llorona in Xochimilco during the Day of the Dead. Since 1993, this nighttime spectacle has transformed the tragic legend into a tourist attraction that reflects the rich pre-Hispanic tradition of Mexico. Recognized as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, La Llorona has various versions that narrate the story of a grieving mother searching for her children with her laments.
The presentations of La Llorona Xochimilco are taking place at Embarcadero Cuemanco, using music, theater, and dance to bring this classic Mexican legend to life. The show combines modern and pre-Hispanic instruments on a lit stage in the Laguna de Tiliac. In particular, the special performances on November 1 and 2 will celebrate 31 years of tradition and cultural legacy of this emblematic story.
Regarding dates and prices, the official event website provides ticket prices for the different functions of La Llorona Xochimilco.
