The concert Raíces, which will take place at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), has the main objective of rescuing and showcasing the works of Mexican female composers from the romantic period. Beyond simply making them visible, the concert will focus on making them audible through vocal and piano interpretation. Many of these pieces are considered unpublished, so their presentation represents a unique opportunity to enjoy a little-explored repertoire.
The event is scheduled for November 14 at the Rosario Castellanos Hall of Casa del Lago and will feature the participation of distinguished musicians. Ana Rosalía Ramos and Rosa Muñoz, accompanied by pianist Pierre Arnauld Le-Guérinel, will bring these forgotten compositions to life. Admission to the concert will be free for the public to enjoy an enriching musical experience.
The initiative Opera: Our Forgotten Heritage, in collaboration with Casa del Lago UNAM, has promoted the realization of this concert with the purpose of rescuing the work of forgotten Mexican female composers and delving into the origins of the country’s music. These musical pieces not only represent an important artistic contribution, but they also have significant social and cultural relevance in the history of Mexico.
Founded in 2020, Opera: Our Forgotten Heritage has stood out for its work in highlighting and promoting the repertoire of Mexican opera. Additionally, the initiative has undertaken international tours in countries such as Spain and France, bringing the talent and musical richness of Mexico to various stages around the world.
