In commemoration of Letter Carrier Day, the General Director of the Mexican Postal Service, Violeta Abreu González, announced that to date, more than 300 million letters and packages have been distributed in Mexico and 191 other countries. Abreu González extended her gratitude to the letter carriers and all postal employees for keeping this beloved tradition alive in the country, highlighting that thanks to them, the Postal Service continues to be relevant.
During the event, which was attended by the head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Esteva, recognitions were given to employees of Correos de México for their long years of service, highlighting the tireless work and commitment to service of these workers. Abreu González expressed her recognition for the effort of each of those present.
Regarding the logistics of the Mexican Postal Service, it is noted that approximately 324 million documents are distributed annually, including correspondence, receipts, advertising, and packages. More than 13,000 employees are responsible for delivering about one million pieces per day. The effort of these workers is reflected in their years of service, ranging from 10 years to more than 40 years for some of them.
Regarding remuneration, a letter carrier in Correos de México earns between 12,674 and 13,618 pesos gross monthly, with various additional benefits that include economic incentives, support for childcare, bonuses for school supplies, among others. Despite the digital age, where many communications are done electronically, 1.9 million documents are still delivered traditionally, demonstrating the persistence and relevance of postal service in the country.
The letter carriers of Sepomex make deliveries by motorcycle, bicycle, and even on foot, ensuring that correspondence and packages reach their destination in a timely manner. In addition to letters, parcel shipping and postal money order services are offered, expanding the range of options available to users of the Mexican Postal Service. Despite changes in the way we communicate, letter carriers continue to be a fundamental part of this connection network in the country.
