Controversy Over the Livestock Fair in Sinaloa

The governor will have the final say regarding the organization of the fair. After dismissing the possibility that the cancellation was related to threats against him captured in a narcomanta, Rubén Rocha made ambiguous statements leaving the celebration of the event in suspense. He highlighted the influence of some participants and the need to "protect their interests."

In the Tuesday morning conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that the Sinaloa Livestock Fair will depend on the final decision of Governor Rubén Rocha, contradicting previous statements from Omar García Harfuch, head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, who affirmed that the event would indeed take place.

The controversy arose after the cancellation of Expo Ganadera 2024, justified by the governor due to the presence of corridos singers who, according to him, could incite violence. Although initially Harfuch indicated that the fair seemed likely to take place with guarantees of safety, Sheinbaum later revoked that initial position. I was left thinking about the fair, said the governor.
