Extreme Temperatures Predicted in Mexico

The National Meteorological Service warns of intense frosts and rains in at least 22 states of Mexico due to cold front 24. Minimum temperatures between -15 to -10 degrees are expected in the mountainous areas of the country.


Extreme Temperatures Predicted in Mexico

The low temperatures will affect various locations in Mexico this Monday, January 20, with forecasts ranging from -15 to 5 degrees in several areas of the country.

In the mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua, and Durango, minimum temperatures are expected to be between -15 and -10 degrees. Meanwhile, in the mountains of Sonora and Coahuila, temperatures will range between -10 and -5 degrees. In other states like Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, and Zacatecas, temperatures are anticipated to be between -5 and 0 degrees.

On Tuesday morning, a range of 0 to 5 degrees is expected in the Sierra of Sinaloa, Nayarit, Querétaro, Mexico City, and Morelos. On the other hand, in coastal areas like Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán, warm weather will be registered with temperatures between 30 and 40 degrees.

The National Meteorological Service has highlighted that the cold front 24 affecting the country is accompanied by an arctic air mass that will cause a significant drop in temperatures, primarily in northern and northwestern Mexico. This phenomenon will also lead to rainfall in various regions of the country.

Intense frosts are expected to affect at least 22 states, with heavy and very heavy rains in Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo, showers and heavy rains in Tamaulipas, Campeche, and Yucatán, as well as showers in Coahuila and Nuevo León, and isolated rains in Puebla.

The National Water Commission reported that this weather will continue at least until Thursday, January 23, with the arctic air mass maintaining the cold wave over different areas of the country and causing drops in temperatures.
