The recovery work of the bodies of miners in Pasta de Conchos has focused on the northern area, specifically in the galleries that connect with the vertical shafts TV-2 and TV-3. The excavation in this place has been extensive, reaching dimensions of 375 meters long, 320 meters wide, and 64 meters deep. This process began on November 4, 2022, and ended on December 11, 2023, successfully removing a total of 5.3 million tons of earth and rock.
The commission responsible for this task has notified the families about the identification of two more workers, Juan Raúl Arteaga García and Guillermo Iglesias Ramos, joining José Alfredo Ordoñez Martínez, whose remains were located in June of last year. The delivery of the remains to their families is expected in the coming days, following the identification of new biological evidence carried out by the Attorney General's Office and the National Institute of Genomic Medicine (Iimegen).
Additionally, as part of the Repair and Justice Plan in Pasta de Conchos, widows of the miners were informed about the procedure to supplement the pensions granted to ensure them an income equivalent to the current minimum wage. Alejandro Salafranca, head of the Decent Work Unit, highlighted the inter-institutional effort to carry out this measure.
On the other hand, Emilia Calleja, general director of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), communicated to the families about the technical advancements in the rescue process in Pasta de Conchos and the strategies that will be followed to find the last trapped miner.
Regarding the work in El Pinabete, where 10 miners were trapped by a sudden flooding, families were informed about the progress in recovering the bodies. Laura Velázquez Alzúa, national coordinator of Civil Protection, met with the families to share that only the last of the bodies remains to be recovered, after more than 199 days of continuous work, with the participation of more than 127 people in the extraction tasks, reinforcement of galleries, and analysis of materials of interest.
