Cold Weather Warning Across Mexico

According to information from the National Water Commission, high temperatures between 30 and 40 degrees are forecasted in several regions of Mexico, such as Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Morelos, and Puebla. On the other hand, a set of recommendations was issued by the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) to prevent respiratory diseases during the cold season, which will extend until March.

Among the recommendations are avoiding sudden temperature changes and drafts, dressing appropriately, consuming fruits and vegetables to strengthen defenses, sneezing correctly, staying home in case of extreme temperatures, using enough blankets at night, and avoiding self-medication in case of respiratory infections. The areas most affected by low temperatures will be located in mountainous regions of several states, with lows that could reach up to -15 degrees.

Additionally, the arrival of cold front 25 is expected, which will affect at least 20 states in Mexico, causing drops in temperature, mainly in the center and north of the country. This phenomenon will be associated with cyclonic circulation in the atmosphere that will enhance the arrival of polar jet stream. Intense frosts and light rains are expected in the north and south of the country, with showers anticipated in Baja California, Veracruz, Oaxaca, and Chiapas for the weekend.
