During the cold front number 24 in Nuevo León, temperatures were recorded as low as minus two degrees, with a wind chill sensation of up to minus seven degrees, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported due to the cold. The Civil Protection Directorate of the Government of Nuevo León reported that preventive measures have been implemented in the 51 municipalities of the state, including Carousel Operations.
The head of Civil Protection, Erik Cavazos, emphasized the implementation of the Contingency Plan by instructions from Governor Samuel García. Thanks to the collaboration between authorities, media, and citizens, preventive measures were successfully carried out. Cavazos mentioned that joint operations were conducted with various entities to provide support to vulnerable people in the metropolitan area, delivering food, blankets, mats, and facilitating transfers to shelters.
Regarding the state of the highways, most remained passable during the cold front, except for sections such as Cuesta de Mamulique, where preventive closures were made to avoid accidents. Cavazos highlighted the coordination with Civil Protection of several municipalities and the National Guard to make decisions that prevent risks on the roads. Despite the adverse weather conditions, no serious incidents were reported on the highways, reflecting a solid culture of prevention among the population.
