Ricardo N., a former worker of Volcanic Park in Ciudad Serdán, has been sentenced to six years in prison for the crime of animal cruelty after causing the death of 32 deer in June 2022.
According to the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) of Puebla, Ricardo entered the park with feral dogs and incited them to attack the deer as retaliation for his dismissal, causing the tragedy within the designated area for these animals.
Following his detention and being linked to the process with preventive detention, the FGE conducted various investigations that confirmed his guilt in the crime. Finally, a judge ruled a sentence of six years in prison, which he will serve at the respective Social Reintegration Center.
In addition to the prison sentence, Ricardo N. will also have to pay a fine and compensate for the damage caused to the conservation park. This ruling sets an important precedent in the fight against animal abuse in Puebla, underscoring the need for legal protection for living beings in conservation spaces.
The sentence was issued two years after the events, when in June 2022, Ricardo 'N' entered the park located in Chalchicomula de Sesma and, as an act of revenge for his dismissal, used dogs to attack 32 deer.
