Within the framework of the 42nd annual multidisciplinary meeting of the National Institute of Cancerology (INCan), Dr. Oscar Arrieta, General Director of INCan, emphasized the importance of education and research in cancer treatment. During this annual meeting aimed at strengthening teaching and education in oncology, the relevance of having an accurate diagnosis and appropriate referral of patients for early identification of the disease was highlighted, which increases survival chances and reduces the costs of oncological treatments.
Dr. Arrieta stressed the significance of the oncology nursing course to be offered to specialized nurses, aimed at providing them with specific training in early diagnosis and comprehensive care for patients. In addition, it was noted that the presentation of the Dr. José Noriega Limón Award at this meeting recognizes residents who have excelled in research during their training, acknowledging their dedication and contribution to advancements in oncology.
The annual multidisciplinary meeting of INCan is not only a space for academic training but also an opportunity for the graduation of more than 250 residents and students from advanced specialty courses. This event brings together professionals from various fields to present clinical cases and highlight the multidisciplinary treatment of cancer, promoting excellence in research and oncological care.
