Jalisco Launches Comprehensive Educational Reform

In Jalisco, the Jalisco con Estrella program has been introduced, which aims for the comprehensive rehabilitation and modernization of more than 7,000 public educational institutions. This program will make music classes mandatory in all public schools in the state, at the preschool, primary, and secondary levels, thus becoming the first Mexican state to implement this measure.

The main objective is to dignify educational spaces and ensure optimal conditions for students' learning. Therefore, classrooms, laboratories, workshops, restrooms, and other areas that promote interaction and student development will be improved. In addition, domes will be installed, painting and waterproofing will be carried out, universal accessibility will be provided, sports areas will be created, and modular units will be built, as well as new buildings when necessary.

The Governor of Jalisco, Pablo Lemus Navarro, emphasized the importance of having the best educational facilities to achieve the best educational system in Mexico. The program envisions modern, friendly, and sustainable infrastructure, with natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, and energy generation.

The Secretary of Education, Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, highlighted that Jalisco con Estrella goes beyond the construction of new schools, seeking to create spaces that foster a comprehensive education for students. Within the framework of this initiative, music kits have been delivered to various schools to promote talent.

During the announcement, symbolic delivery of musical instruments to students took place. The Mixed Secondary School #56 "Juana de Asbaje" presented a String Orchestra and a School Mariachi, who performed the songs "Guadalajara, Guadalajara" and "Cielito Lindo," thus demonstrating the positive impact of music in the educational and cultural field.
