Increase in Aesthetic Treatments Demand in Mexico

The demand for aesthetic treatments and surgeries has experienced a significant increase in Mexico in recent times. According to aesthetic surgeon Andrés Rosales, this trend has been driven by 30% since 2020 to the present date. The increase is largely attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led people to be more exposed to cameras during online meetings and on social media.

Mexico has positioned itself as the fourth country in America with the highest demand for injectable aesthetic procedures, surpassed only by Brazil, Argentina, and the United States. Furthermore, the country has become an attractive destination for medical tourism from the United States, as treatments with the same standards and products cost between 30% and 40% less.

Regarding the average spending on aesthetic treatments in Mexico, it is estimated that a person usually spends between 6,000 and 12,000 pesos (293 and 584 dollars). The aesthetic medicine industry in the country generates annual revenues of around 8 billion dollars, a figure projected to reach 16 billion by the year 2025.

Among the most requested treatments in Mexico are non-invasive procedures, such as botox injections and hyaluronic acid fillers. Specialist Andrés Rosales emphasizes the importance of seeking specialized professionals to carry out these types of procedures, warning about the health risks of turning to unqualified individuals.

Additionally, six main areas within aesthetic medicine are highlighted according to Rosales: botulinum toxin (botox), biostimulators, hyaluronic acids, enzymes, lifting threads, and technology. The importance of these treatments responds to various reasons, including the fear of aging, a phenomenon known as midorexia.

In a global context, it is expected that the aesthetic medicine market will continue to rise, experiencing a 9.5% increase by the year 2030, reaching an estimated value of 155 billion dollars.
