The National Service of Health and the Secretariat of Agriculture are on alert for the marketing of three "pirate" drugs for animal use, which are used as analgesics, to prevent diseases, and to increase weight.
One of the cases is the counterfeit analgesic Ketamin - Pet, which contains ketamine HCI, a short-acting injectable solution for surgeries without the need for muscle relaxation. Although it is sold only with a prescription, it was being offered on social media without clear instructions for use, dosage, route of administration, and withdrawal times.
Regarding the counterfeiting of the drug Equipoise from Zoetis Mexico, there is an alert about batch SAS/III/2025/0001, which the company does not recognize as manufactured by them. This product was canceled in March 2021, so any existing batch is considered fake.
On the other hand, an alert was issued about the drug Vanguard Plus 5, used to prevent respiratory diseases. Although it is registered in Mexico, Zoetis does not recognize the manufacturing or importation of batch 453125A, so its quality, safety, and efficacy are not guaranteed.
Upon identification of any pirate medication, it is recommended to report it via email to denunciaciudadana@senasica.gob.mx. If any adverse effect is experienced after using it, it should be reported to the email farmacovigilanciavet@senasica.gob.mx.
