
In Mexico, the first heat wave of the year has arrived, with forecasts indicating variable weather throughout the week, including morning frosts and high temperatures in the afternoon. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), this heat wave is expected to cover the west, center, south, and east of the country starting Monday.
According to forecasts, Mexico experienced a record heat in 2024, but for 2025, up to five heat waves with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius are expected. Additionally, cold front 31 is predicted to affect the northwest and north of the country, generating strong winds and possible dust storms.
The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that the first heat wave will mainly affect states such as Jalisco, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas. This heat wave is expected to extend to other states throughout the week, maintaining high temperatures in more than 20 entities.
On Monday, high temperatures are expected in several Mexican states, such as Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, and Chiapas, with maximums between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius. Other states will also experience high temperatures, including Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, and Veracruz, among others.
The population is advised to take precautions during the heat wave, such as staying in the shade, wearing lightweight light-colored clothing, staying hydrated, consuming fruits and vegetables, and avoiding exposure to heat during peak hours. It is important to remember that Tuesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with higher temperatures starting from 1 p.m.
