The doctors of the General Hospital of Cholula held a protest on the Ecological Periphery to demand the resignation of the hospital's director, Elizabeth Guadalupe Laug. The blockade began in the morning, with about 30 doctors protesting in front of the hospital. The protesters accused Laug of being despotic and mistreating staff during her four years of management.
In the protest, health workers, mostly unionized, expressed that the director and other members of her team, such as the head nurse and the human resources manager, should be removed. They pointed out a toxic work environment that affects both staff and patients treated at the hospital.
In response to this protest, the Puebla Health Secretary and IMSS-Bienestar established a dialogue table with the doctors to address their demands. After an agreement was reached, a few hours after the protest began, the blockade was lifted and they committed to following up on the healthcare staff's requests.
The state agency committed to improving the hospital's operations, emphasizing the quality of care for patients and the well-being of the workers.
