Warning Issued for High Temperatures in Nuevo León

Nuevo León faces extreme heat this Tuesday with temperatures ranging from 36 to 38 degrees Celsius and wind gusts up to 60 kilometers per hour. Authorities caution against fire risks and urge residents to stay hydrated and vigilant, especially for vulnerable groups.


Warning Issued for High Temperatures in Nuevo León

This Tuesday, the director of Civil Protection of Nuevo León, Erik Cavazos, warned about the extreme weather conditions expected in the region. Winds of between 50 and 60 kilometers per hour, low relative humidity between 2 and 6%, and temperatures ranging between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius are forecasted.

In this regard, Cavazos emphasized the importance of prevention, calling for the avoidance of any activity that could spark fires. He advised against making bonfires in mountain areas or trails, as well as avoiding littering, cigarette butts, and burning waste. He pointed out that intentional fires will be punished and that surveillance measures are being taken in the 51 municipalities of the state.

The director of Civil Protection highlighted the importance of taking care of health amid such adverse weather conditions. He recommended that the population stay hydrated, especially infants, children, and the elderly, as well as those who engage in outdoor activities. He also advised avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day and wearing appropriate clothing.

Additionally, the population was urged to take precautions such as staying properly hydrated with water, electrolytes, or serum, and seeking immediate medical attention in case of dehydration symptoms. Those who go hiking or trekking were advised to avoid the hottest hours and those working outdoors to protect themselves with suitable clothing, hats, sunblock, and to stay hydrated at all times.
