The program "Health House by House" is an effective strategy aimed at improving adherence to treatments and early detection of chronic diseases. It focuses on the elderly and disabled individuals, preventing them from having to travel to medical units for care.
In a morning conference, Health Secretary David Kershenobich emphasized the importance of this program, especially given the high prevalence of hypertension and diabetes mellitus among the elderly. According to Kershenobich, 49.4% of older adults suffer from hypertension and 35% face diabetes. The implementation of this strategy aims to reduce the burden of these diseases and improve the quality of life for beneficiaries.
The main objective of "Health House by House" is to provide personalized care at the homes of elderly and disabled individuals, thereby improving treatment adherence and detecting chronic diseases without the need for travel. The program seeks to address not only the diseases but also to promote prevention, self-care, and social support in a comprehensive manner.
The Health Secretary stressed that the program will include a multidisciplinary approach to address the physical, mental, and social well-being of older adults. Emotional support will be provided, and disease prevention, as well as self-care, will be promoted. Additionally, it is expected to improve the quality of life and prolong the health of beneficiaries through this initiative.
As part of the chronic diseases to be addressed is high cholesterol, which affects nearly 50% of the population of older adults and people with disabilities. Through the "Health House by House" program, the goal is to positively impact the health and well-being of this population, fostering comprehensive prevention and self-care.
