80 Years of Gynaecological Care Celebration

The Mexican College of Specialists in Gynaecology and Obstetrics celebrates its 80th anniversary with free public talks on women's health advancements, taking place on March 8.


The Mexican College of Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialists (COMEGO) celebrates 80 years of dedication to women's health care, raising the standards of gynecological and obstetric care in the country. The event on March 8 will focus on analyzing the evolution and advancements in women's health care, highlighting the fundamental role that women play in gynecological and obstetric care.

"Our work is not only to guarantee maternal and child health but also to ensure that Mexico has specialists prepared to face current and future challenges," emphasized Dr. Víctor Saúl Vital Reyes, the upcoming president of COMEGO for the period 2025-2026.

Dr. Vital stressed the importance of training and updating health professionals in the gynecological and obstetric specialty, highlighting that each safe birth is the result of decades of advancements in the field. COMEGO, which emerged in February 1945 as the Mexican Association of Gynecology and Obstetrics, has adapted its focus over the years to meet the needs of patients and professionals.

The new president of COMEGO mentioned the importance of gynecology and obstetrics evolving at the pace of society, integrating new technologies and remote monitoring methods. In commemoration of its 80th anniversary, COMEGO will offer a series of free talks aimed at the general public titled "COMEGO 80 Years Caring for Women" on March 8. The talks will take place starting at 8:00 AM in both virtual and in-person formats.

In Dr. Vital Reyes' words, the College will seek to consolidate strategic alliances and ensure that gynecological and obstetric health remains a priority on the public health agenda, emphasizing the institution's commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in women's health care.
