The collective Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco, dedicated to the search for missing persons, reported the discovery of three clandestine ovens on a property in La Estanzuela, Teuchitlán municipality, Jalisco. According to the members of the collective, the ranch "Izaguirre" was used by organized crime to incinerate bodies, becoming a site of extermination.
During the search and securing operation, dental pieces, bone remains, and other objects were found among the ashes. Additionally, the presence of 400 pairs of shoes, clothing, and personal items was reported, suggesting that at least 200 people may have been victims at that site. Also found were 96 shell casings of different calibers, magazines for firearms, and some security handcuffs. At the site, an altar dedicated to Santa Muerte surrounded by candles was located.
In January of this year, the ranch was raided and it was discovered that it operated as a training camp. Subsequently, a confrontation in September 2024 led to the detention of 10 generators of violence and three kidnapped persons. The Attorney General of the State of Jalisco, Salvador González de los Santos, explained that in previous seizures, the clandestine ovens had not been detected due to the extent of the land.
The new discovery was possible thanks to the work of the search collectives, who informed the authorities to initiate the processing of the site. The remains found were hidden in the ground, which prevented their detection in previous investigations. The Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation to pursue the crimes, detain those responsible, and bring them to justice.
