Laura Franco Blanco, an activist, was violently attacked in Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla, leaving her unconscious. The local government condemned this act and pledged to ensure justice for the victim.

Activist Laura Franco Blanco was attacked until she lost consciousness by a man known as Fidel, a security guard and former military, who fled after the attack that occurred in the municipality of Izúcar de Matamoros, Puebla. Meanwhile, the Government of Puebla strongly condemned the aggression against the activist in the Santiago Mihuacán neighborhood of that municipality. "This violent act is unacceptable and goes against the values of respect, equality, and justice that we promote in our society," it stated in an informational card.

The government of Alejandro Armenta expressed its solidarity with the victim and her family, committing that this act will not go unpunished, and that "the full weight of the law will be applied to those responsible." It affirmed that it will continue to work to ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of the women of Puebla, with firm actions to eradicate gender violence. The events occurred on International Women's Day when the subject, who was reportedly armed, attempted to murder this woman known as "La China," a member of the citizen round "Guardians of Izúcar."

The woman was found lying in the street completely unconscious. It is known that she was heading to the town center to sell as she is a corn vendor. She was attended to by paramedics at the scene but was later urgently transferred to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
