Alert on Water Safety Ahead of Easter Week

The municipality of Querétaro has begun awareness tours in dams and reservoirs one month prior to the start of the Holy Week period. The aim is to inform the population about the risks of engaging in water activities in these locations.

The coordinator of Municipal Civil Protection, Francisco Ramírez, has pointed out that currently the bodies of water in the capital are at 40% of their capacity. He warns that factors such as temperature, mud, trash, and weeds, combined with the consumption of alcoholic beverages, can trigger fatal situations. Therefore, he calls on the population to refrain from entering these places.

Ramírez also informed that in the coming days signage will be placed to reinforce the message of caution. He emphasized the importance of individual and collective responsibility, reminding that water activities in the dams and reservoirs of Querétaro are prohibited. He stressed that it is not a question of permits, but of safety.

Furthermore, he reminded that the municipality has monitoring systems through cameras in most dams and reservoirs. These systems allow for an immediate response in case of emergencies to ensure the safety of the population.
