
The Prosecutor's Office of the State of Jalisco, in collaboration with the National Guard and the State Secretary of Security, has arrested José Arath “N” as the alleged responsible for the death of a 27-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter, whose bodies were found on March 10 in an apartment in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga.
According to information provided by a relative of the victims, who identified José Arath as the main suspect in the attack, an arrest warrant was issued against him. The capture of this individual reflects a clear message that in Jalisco, impunity is fought with responsibility.
As part of the investigations carried out, the possible responsibility of José Arath in the femicide of the woman and the girl has been established. Therefore, the Agent of the Public Ministry of the area of Femicides of the Deputy Attorney General's Office in Specialized Investigation for the Attention to Women, Girls, Children, and Adolescents due to Gender, along with the victims' family, requested and fulfilled a judicial mandate that allowed the detention of the accused.
The man was transferred to the Control Court to determine his legal situation and proceed with the corresponding process. The mother, who was four months pregnant at the time of the attack, and her daughter lost their lives despite the efforts of medical personnel to save them.
It is important to highlight that both were reported missing since March 8, coinciding with International Women's Day, with the woman's romantic partner being the main suspect in the incident.
A study conducted in 2023 showed that, during the period from January to September of that year, 348 women were murdered in Jalisco, of which 26 cases were classified as presumed femicides. The municipalities of Zapopan, Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, San Pedro Tlaquepaque, and El Salto were the most affected by these crimes, and all of them are declared in Gender Violence Alert.
