Six people from Veracruz, reported as missing, have been identified so far thanks to the discovery of their belongings at the Teuchitlán extermination camp in Jalisco. This was reported by Karina Montero Hernández, a member of the Solecito Collective of Veracruz. It is expected that with the progress of the investigations, the number of missing people from Veracruz whose remains are located at the Izaguirre ranch, discovered by the Guerreros Buscadores de Jalisco collective, will increase.
The six individuals were identified by their IDs and clothing found among the recovered items, suggesting the possibility of finding more remains as the site is examined. Montero Hernández emphasized the importance of working on the identification of remains in all clandestine graves, including those in Veracruz, where there is a significant backlog.
Regarding the identification of remains, Montero Hernández urged hiring more specialized personnel to speed up the process and ensure justice for the victims and their families. Additionally, she highlighted the urgency of addressing the insecurity faced by members of search collectives, as evidenced by the recent murder of a searcher in Poza Rica.
The collective plans to travel to Jalisco to collaborate in the identification processes and promote their progress. In response to the discovery, a march was held as part of the national mourning day for Teuchitlán, where there were demands to end violence and the existence of clandestine graves, including the case of Teuchitlán, also noted as a training ground and forced recruitment site by the CJNG.
