ChatGPT Faces Service Outage on March 17

Currently, many people turn to a variety of applications to research and solve problems in their daily lives. One option is ChatGPT, a chatbot that uses artificial intelligence to answer questions and provide assistance.

The free version of ChatGPT is available to all users, but there are also more advanced models that offer unlimited access for a monthly fee of up to 200 dollars. Some users have come to use artificial intelligence as a personal assistant or consultant.

Recently, OpenAI's chatbot experienced a service disruption on Monday, March 17, according to the Downdetector page. During that day, more than 200 reports of system failures were received around 1:30 PM.

Numerous people use ChatGPT for various tasks, such as drafting emails, organizing workout schedules, seeking love advice, and having thoughtful interactions, among other daily activities.

Some users have reported that when trying to access ChatGPT, they encountered a connection error message, indicating that the service experienced temporary technical issues.

Experts from UNAM have indicated that a standard query in ChatGPT, with between 20 and 50 questions, is equivalent to using 500 milliliters of water. This is because the system requires cooling to maintain the appropriate temperature of the servers.

Research from the University of Colorado Riverside and the University of Texas Arlington indicates that the use of artificial intelligence can have a significant impact on water consumption. Additionally, a study by Microsoft has revealed that the abuse of these technologies could negatively affect the creativity of young people.

More than two years ago, OpenAI launched ChatGPT, democratizing access to artificial intelligence for the general public. So far, the company has not provided additional information about the incident. Previously, the concept of artificial intelligence was often considered technical and abstract, reserved for specialists in the fields of engineering and science.
