
In the morning conference, Health Secretary David Kershenobich reported on the situation of measles in Mexico. So far, 39 cases have been confirmed in Chihuahua and 4 in Oaxaca. It was emphasized that vaccination is crucial to prevent the disease, especially in children, and the importance of the booster dose in adulthood was mentioned.
On the other hand, the issue of whooping cough in the country was addressed. The significance of vaccination against this disease was highlighted, with vaccination schedules administered at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months, as well as boosters in adulthood and for pregnant women starting at 20 weeks.
Regarding the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (Issste), its director, Martà Batres, announced changes in medical care hours. It is proposed to extend the working hours of doctors from 6-6.5 hours to 8 hours, responding to the request of 80% of the staff. It is expected that 26,400 personnel can join these new hours.
It was revealed that the vaccination program has been strengthened at the national level to cover high-risk populations. It was reported that there are enough vaccines available, and the delivery of 239 million doses is planned for the upcoming weeks. Additionally, epidemiological alerts were issued, and the National Vaccination Days will resume from April 26 to May 3 with the aim of reinforcing immunization throughout the country.
