New Health Program 'La Muestra Viaja' Launched in Mexico

The General Director of IMSS-Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, highlighted in a conference this Tuesday the benefits of the strategy called 'The Sample Travels'. This program aims to expand access to laboratory studies for millions of people without the need for them to travel long distances. The implementation of this strategy seeks to reduce costs and unnecessary travel.

The new strategy of IMSS-Bienestar is already in operation in the State of Mexico and is expected to expand this year to other areas such as Colima, Veracruz, and Mexico City, with the ultimate goal of covering the entire country. Instead of traveling, samples for studies will be collected by IMSS staff and taken to nearby health units for analysis. This process will be carried out in collaboration with strategic partners such as Correos de México, responsible for the transportation of samples.

In the words of Alejandro Svarch Pérez: 'Every sample that travels is a patient that does not need to travel, it's a patient that does not need to wait, it's a patient that does not have to return for their results.' More than 600 health centers in the State of Mexico are connected within this program, facilitating the collection of samples that will be sent to one of the 11 specialized laboratories of the institution.

The General Director assured that various safety protocols have been established to ensure that samples arrive properly at the laboratories, using specialized packaging and trained personnel for their collection and handling. Currently, the program includes the performance of 30 free laboratory studies, including tests to detect diseases such as diabetes and other common health conditions.
