Social Media Theories on Women Disappearances in Mexico

A disturbing theory has emerged on social media regarding the promotions directed exclusively at women on Thursdays in clubs and bars in Mexico. According to this theory, criminals may take advantage of women's promotion nights on Thursdays in these places, as it usually takes between 48 to 72 hours to report someone missing, and authorities do not operate regularly on weekends.

José Luis Castillo, who speaks up every March 8 in memory of his daughter Esmeralda, who disappeared over 15 years ago, shared his concern about this phenomenon in an interview with influencer Eva María Beristain. According to Castillo, if a woman disappears on a Thursday and a report is made that same day, authorities often request to wait at least 48 hours to issue an alert, making these days the most dangerous concerning women's disappearances.

Establishments that offer incentives such as free entry and drinks for women could provide an opportunity for criminals to act and kidnap victims, according to the theory. So far, authorities have not confirmed the validity of this information, which could mean that an official report is made on Saturday, when many government offices are not operational, giving criminals time to hide the victim.

José Luis Castillo suggests that criminals linked to organized crime might exploit this time gap to ensure that no trace of the missing person remains by the time authorities begin their search. This situation has raised suspicions of possible collusion between authorities and the criminal organizations responsible for these crimes.

Although authorities have reiterated that it is not necessary to wait 48 or 72 hours to report a disappearance, cases have arisen where such a timeframe is requested, even though it should not be a norm. The theory regarding the relationship between promotions for women on Thursdays in clubs and bars and disappearances has gained relevance on social media, sparking a debate about women's safety in these venues.
