Preventive measures are essential to ensure the health and well-being of pets and to prevent serious diseases that may affect their development. In this sense, with the commemoration of World Puppy Day on March 23, animal health specialists highlight the importance of starting a comprehensive care plan from the early weeks of life.
"Vaccination and deworming are two fundamental pillars of puppy health. Regular visits to the veterinarian allow for the timely detection and prevention of diseases," concluded Alejandro Sánchez, veterinarian at MSD Animal Health in Mexico. Providing medical attention, proper nutrition, and a safe environment from day one is the best way to ensure a healthy and happy life for your pet.
From their earliest weeks, both dogs and cats are exposed to viruses and parasites that can compromise their well-being. In this regard, Sánchez pointed out that prevention through innovative vaccines and long-lasting dewormers is key to ensuring a healthy life for pets.
With regard to vaccine-preventable diseases, canine parvovirus, canine distemper, rabies, and feline panleukopenia are highlighted, all of which can be potentially fatal or can leave serious sequelae in animals. On the other hand, in the case of deworming-preventable diseases, there are intestinal worms, ticks, and fleas, as well as scabies, all causing various health problems.
Sánchez emphasized the importance of establishing a health plan that includes regular vaccinations and deworming, starting from the early weeks of puppy life. This ensures effective protection against diseases and contributes to providing them with a fulfilling and healthy life. Prevention is the key to ensuring the well-being of pets throughout their lives.
