
The Attorney General's Office of the State of Querétaro has inaugurated its new Forensic and Human Identification Custody Center, aimed at expanding the operational capabilities of the judicial body for the analysis of human remains and identification of victims. The building, which had an investment of 27.3 million pesos, occupies 599 square meters and includes offices, a multidisciplinary laboratory for forensic analysis, a victim assistance area, and an osteotheca with capacity for 288 drawers and 516 niches.
In the inaugural speech, the state attorney general, Víctor Antonio De Jesús Hernández, emphasized that the new facilities will guarantee the dignity of unidentified victims and represent progress in the effectiveness of the rights to truth and justice for victims and their families. De Jesús Hernández highlighted the importance of the center as a tool that will facilitate the temporary custody of corpses and skeletal remains of unidentified and unclaimed deceased individuals in safe and dignified spaces.
The attorney mentioned the center's coordination with other entities such as the National Registry of Missing and Unlocated Persons, the National Search Commission, forensic medical services from other entities, international organizations, and civil entities specialized in supporting victims. De Jesús Hernández stressed that the inaugurated project is only a first stage, anticipating future expansion plans for the center to continue improving forensic services and meet the demands of families seeking truth and justice.
