British American Tobacco Mexico (BAT Mexico), in collaboration with the Government of the State of Nayarit, has launched the First Vaccination Campaign for tobacco workers and their families. This initiative aims to bring health services closer to agricultural communities and will take place from May 6 to 10.
The campaign is being held at the Florece Care Centers, facilities managed by BAT Mexico, where educational, nutritional, recreational, and medical services are provided to the children of agricultural workers. The main purpose is to prevent child labor in tobacco fields.
In collaboration with the Health and Economy Secretariats of Nayarit, it is expected to vaccinate hundreds of people against diseases such as measles, polio, hepatitis, influenza, human papillomavirus, and parvovirus, among others, for free.
César Lara, state economy secretary, mentioned that "The joint work between the private initiative and the government allows us to address development gaps. Bringing health to those who need it most is not only prevention but also justice," emphasizing the importance of this collaboration.
Amauri Modesto, head of brigades at the state Health Secretariat, highlighted that this type of campaign is key to preventing diseases in vulnerable communities. This initiative represents the first edition of a program that is expected to be repeated annually, marking a significant step towards the health inclusion of vulnerable groups to strengthen their well-being.
