In April, registration for the Universal Health Credential will begin, which is why the Secretariat of Welfare announced the locations of the modules for enrollment. The Government of Mexico stated that the country will achieve universal access to public health services by 2027. The process will start this year with a single credential that will function as official identification for the entire population and will advance gradually to integrate all institutions in the sector.
During this first phase, approximately 3,000 modules will be enabled, whose locations will be announced through the Secretariat of Welfare's website. Here we share a step-by-step guide on how to find the location of the module corresponding to you to process the Universal Health Credential.

What do we know about the new Universal Health Credential? The goal of the Universal Health Service is for any Mexican to be able to receive treatment for any ailment in any health institution, stated President Claudia Sheinbaum during her morning press conference this Tuesday.
The head of government explained that with this initiative, which will be supported by a presidential decree, the effectiveness of the health system will be improved.
“It is a historic step we are taking, advancing towards universal health service,” emphasized President Sheinbaum.
To this end, a credentialing process will begin that will last for over a year, but starting in January 2027, there will be health services that can be shared among the three systems: Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Institute for Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), and IMSS Bienestar.
Eduardo Clark, Undersecretary of Integration and Development of the Health Sector, explained that the Universal Health Service aims for “any person to be able to find the medical care they are entitled to, in order to receive free treatment in this integrated network of services”.
Clark explained that the first phase will be the issuance of a single credential that will function as official identification and will gradually replace the cards of IMSS, ISSSTE, and IMSS-Bienestar.
