Work can have negative consequences on the mental health of workers in Mexico, according to a report from OCC. Work-related pressure, lack of support, and the imbalance between professional and personal life are factors affecting at least 83% of people in the country. This situation translates into emotional, psychological, social, and economic damage.

According to the employment platform, 58% of respondents indicated that their work is one of several factors affecting their mental health, while 25% consider it the main cause. Specialists warn that these issues can lead to high levels of stress, burnout, and physical health problems, such as unexplained colds.

A study conducted through the microsite Labor Thermometer revealed that 61% of workers experience high levels of stress, 16% have suffered from depression, and 14% experience insomnia and lack of rest. These disorders can trigger diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, gastritis, or recurrent infections.

Another study, called the 2025 Corporate Wellness Overview, conducted by Wellhub, showed that 96% of workers in Mexico experience some level of stress during their workday. Furthermore, 55% believe that work-related stress is the main cause of their mental health problems. 90% would change jobs if their company does not prioritize well-being and mental health.

Psychologist Carmen Ramírez warned about the consequences of a lack of work-related mental health, such as loss of productivity, mood problems, greater risk of physical illnesses, weakened immune system, and economic damage. It is important to address these issues to ensure the well-being of workers and prevent potential long-term complications.
