Various regions report landslides and blocked roads, creating significant transportation challenges.

Severe Flooding in Oaxaca Due to Tropical Storm

The intense rains caused by tropical storm "Nadine" have generated serious problems in various municipalities of Oaxaca, including the community of Arroyo Blanco in San Juan Lalana, in the Papaloapan basin, where the river overflowed and flooded the streets. The Delegation of Social Peace in Ixtlán de Juárez reported that machinery from various municipalities is working to clear the affected roads and restore vehicle circulation.

In the Sierra de Juárez region, areas such as Santiago Comaltepec, San Juan Chicomezuchil, and Natividad have experienced landslides and damage to roads and highways. Likewise, the municipal seat of Santa María Chimalapa has become isolated due to landslides on its road network. In San Juan Bautista, Tuxtepec, Federal Highway 175 was closed due to the rising river level, which exceeded the height of the bridge on the stretch San Juan Bautista Tuxtepec – Arroyo Choápam – San Juan Bautista Valle Nacional.

The State Traffic Police in Matías Romero Avendaño has activated the Emergency Traffic Attention Plan, conducting patrols to monitor possible disasters and provide support to the population. So far, minimal damage has been recorded in some neighborhoods and intersections in the central area. In San Juan Guichicovi, the interoceanic train tracks in Mogoñe have flooded again, affecting families and generating criticism over supposed poor planning in the rehabilitation of the tracks.

"Before we didn’t flood, and now, with a little rain, we are underwater. This is terrible," expressed an affected resident. Consequently, access to some roads has been restricted due to the overflow of the San Pedro River, further complicating the situation in the area.
