The Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (Issste) awarded the 2024 Pink Recognition to medical, administrative staff, and altruistic individuals who support patients with breast cancer. This recognition celebrates the effort, dedication, and commitment in the fight against this disease, which is the leading cause of cancer death in women.
On the occasion of World Breast Cancer Awareness Day, celebrated on October 19, Issste recognized professionals promoting early detection of breast cancer among the population. In this regard, Víctor Hugo Bautista Hernández, deputy director of Health Prevention and Protection at the institute, emphasized the importance of educating the population to shift towards a preventive culture that allows for timely detection of anomalies in breast glands and saves lives.
During the awards ceremony, the work of Issste surgeons who led the First National Breast Reconstruction Campaign was highlighted, benefiting 292 women by restoring their smiles and self-esteem. Stephanie Paz Manzano, in charge of the National Priority Program for Breast Cancer at Issste, highlighted the importance of every effort made by the staff towards the cause and urged them to continue working together to improve early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
The Pink Recognition was awarded to centers and teams that demonstrated leadership and commitment in projects contributing to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer in various regions of Mexico. Additionally, honorary mentions were given to surgeons who participated in the National Breast Reconstruction Campaign.
At the Issste headquarters, a commemorative mural was unveiled for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, as part of raising awareness about the importance of early diagnosis of this disease and self-care to prevent illnesses.
