During the administration of Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez, Veracruz has managed to reduce the rate of intentional homicides by 51.9%. This achievement places the state among the 10 entities with an incidence below the national average and with a marked downward trend. México Evalúa, in its report "States facing homicide violence: what is the current balance?", places Veracruz in the group of entities with positive results, identified in the report with the color green.

While the national rate of intentional homicides stands at 19 per 100,000 inhabitants, in Veracruz it is 8.2 during the last year of García Jiménez's administration. It is noteworthy that between 2023 and 2024, the reduction was 5.2%.

The governor has emphasized on various occasions the success of the security strategy implemented in his administration, based on four main axes: addressing the causes of violence, supporting young people, promoting the countryside, and close coordination with federal forces.

The data presented in the report comes from the victims registered in the investigation files of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP) and the population projections from the National Population Council (Conapo).

"We monitor month by month the rate of intentional homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in each state of the country to identify areas that require priority attention in matters of citizen security," México Evalúa pointed out in its report.
