Last Friday, in the municipality of Centro, Tabasco, a 22-year-old young woman identified as Estefany was shot and killed in a gym. The tragic act was part of a wave of violence that claimed the lives of 14 people in less than 48 hours in the region.

Her father, Miguel Álvarez Silva, vehemently denied any implication of his daughter in illicit activities, refuting rumors circulating on social media. He demanded a thorough investigation to clarify the motives behind the attack on his daughter, emphasizing that she was a young woman dedicated to her studies.

Miguel Álvarez Silva revealed that Estefany had actively participated in Morena's political campaign and was excited about Mexico's first female president. He also urged Governor Javier May to urgently address the issue of insecurity in the region.

The community of the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco mourned the loss of Estefany, a distinguished Education student in her eighth semester. Thelma Leticia Ruiz, director of the Academic Division of Education and Arts, praised Estefany as an excellent student and mentioned that she had written an article for an upcoming book.

Claudia Caballero, a representative of the 'Colectiva Mujeres Ceiba de Tabasco', denounced that so far this year, 36 femicides have been recorded in the state, but the State Attorney General only recognizes 14 cases as such, with the others categorized as intentional homicides.

Amid this climate of violence, students, teachers, friends, and family of Estefany marched in Villahermosa demanding justice for her murder and an end to the rising wave of violence in Tabasco. The young woman, affectionately known as Fany, was part of a special program aimed at assisting migrant children within the university.

On the fateful Friday when the crime occurred, Fany went to the gym as usual, where she received the fatal shots. Her memory remains alive among those who appreciated her qualities as a person and her dedication to her studies.
