The State Development Plan of Mexico 2023-2029 prioritizes the regeneration of the social fabric and the implementation of strategies to ensure that girls, adolescents, women, and society in general live free from violence. In this context, Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez promotes the 'Violet Operation,' which has had 78 deployments to date.
This program focuses on fulfilling the actions established in the Gender Violence Alert Declaration against Women (DAVGM). The measures include preventive patrolling and increased surveillance in public transportation, bus stops, and public spaces in the 11 alerted municipalities. The Secretary of Security of the State of Mexico (SSEM) through the Gender Police, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) and City Councils, is responsible for carrying out these actions.
From April 17 to October 24, 2024, 78 deployments of the Violet Operation were executed. 337 priority neighborhoods were attended to, 498 public spaces and 440 bus stops were monitored, and 25 requests for assistance were responded to. 19 individuals were brought before the authorities, 4 more were sanctioned before a civic judge, and two complaints of gender violence were addressed.
One of the main goals of this operation is to establish closeness with the population, which is why information was provided to more than 15 thousand residents. In these actions, 1140 agents and 191 vehicles from the General Directorate of Gender Police (DGPG) participated, as well as 1831 personnel and 323 patrols from the General Directorate of Public Security and Traffic (DGSPyT).
The Violet Operations are specifically directed at the 11 municipalities with Gender Violence Alert against Women: Chalco, Chimalhuacán, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, Naucalpan, Nezahualcóyotl, Tlalnepantla, Toluca, Tultitlán, and Valle de Chalco. However, due to the high incidence, coverage has been extended to municipalities such as La Paz, Atizapán de Zaragoza, and Nicolás Romero, following the instruction of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez.
