Tropical Storm Sara Approaches Southeastern Mexico

Tropical storm Sara, arising from tropical depression Nineteen, has strengthened and is approaching the southeast of Mexico. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN) of the National Water Commission (Conagua), at 12:00 hours on Thursday, October 14, Sara was located 610 kilometers east-southeast of Puerto Costa Maya, in Quintana Roo. With maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gusts of up to 85 km/h, it is moving west at 19 km/h, anticipating its arrival on the coasts of southeastern Mexico.

The regions affected by the storm include Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo, where very heavy rains and winds between 40 and 60 km/h are expected. Additionally, wave heights of 1 to 2 meters are forecasted on the coasts of Quintana Roo, which may impact maritime activities and the safety of residents and tourists in the area. At the same time, cold front number 10 is generating adverse weather conditions in the country, particularly affecting the northwest of Mexico and Baja California.

Sara, located off the coasts of Honduras, will interact with a low-pressure channel, intensifying rainfall in the Yucatán Peninsula and nearby states. Humidity from the Caribbean Sea will reinforce these weather effects, while other regions such as the west, center, and south of Mexico are expected to experience rains and showers due to moisture from the Pacific Ocean. On the other hand, a hot to very hot environment is expected in the Pacific coastal states and in the Yucatán Peninsula.

In summary, tropical storm Sara and cold front number 10 are generating adverse weather conditions in different regions of Mexico, anticipating strong rains, winds, and waves in the southeast of the country, while other areas are expected to see moderate precipitation and a warm environment.
