Historic Meeting Focuses on Rights and Resources in Mexico

The recent National Municipal Meeting, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, highlighted the importance of guaranteeing rights, building peace, and ensuring access to essential resources such as drinking water. Her experience as former mayor of Tlalpan allowed her to understand the daily issues of municipalities, from budget shortages to the complexities of their diverse territories.

A key moment of the meeting was the signing of the agreement for the creation of the Indigenous Component of the Fund for Social Infrastructure Contributions, a historic measure that will benefit more than 13 thousand indigenous communities. For the first time, resources from the Federal Expenditure Budget will be delivered directly to indigenous communities, fulfilling what is established in Article 2 of the Constitution.

President Sheinbaum invited municipal and state leaders to join a Master Plan to ensure access to drinking water and proposed to build "Peace Roads" in each municipality, a strategy that goes beyond traditional security, focused on recovering and dignifying public spaces to promote coexistence and a sense of community.

The commitment to invest in every corner of the country through the Wellbeing Programs, benefiting 30 million families, reinforces the importance of coordination among municipalities, states, and the Government of Mexico. This meeting is a testament to the federal government's commitment to social justice, equity, and the well-being of all citizens.

In the words of Claudia Sheinbaum: "Let’s continue to work together to build the Mexico we dream of: a country where rights are guaranteed, peace is built, and nobody is left behind." The event was more than a ceremonial meeting, being a concrete and transformative action driven by the joint effort of mayors, governors, and leaders from all over the country, regardless of political parties.

As Secretary of Government of Mexico City, I am proud to witness and participate in this new stage of transformation led by Claudia Sheinbaum.
