A man was arrested in Tlalpan for transporting wood without legal documentation. Authorities confiscated 34 poles and 10 boards of green wood, reporting possible prison sentences and fines.

A 32-year-old man was arrested in Tlalpan for transporting illegally sourced wood from a forested area, after an inspection revealed 34 logs and 10 green sawn wood planks in his vehicle, for which he could not provide documentation confirming its legality in terms of origin, transport, cutting, or possession. The wood was seized and made available to the relevant authorities to determine the legal situation of the individual, who could face three months to five years in prison and fines of 500 to two thousand days, according to Article 345 Bis, for damage to trees.

On another occasion, on January 17, two men were arrested in Pueblo Parres El Guarda for illegally transporting raw materials, products, and by-products of timber and non-timber forest products in 15 inspected cargo vehicles. During the inspection of a white truck, it was discovered that they were transporting around 250 green pine pallets without the necessary documentation to prove its legality in terms of transport, cutting, or possession, which led to the arrest of the two 25-year-old individuals. Along with the seized materials, they were made available to the authorities to determine their respective legal situations.

The arrest of the man related to the illegal transportation of wood in the forested area of Tlalpan was carried out at a checkpoint established by the Ministry of Environment (Sedema) of Mexico City, the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC), the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa), the National Guard (GN), and the government of the Tlalpan municipality at Paraje La Cima in the Pueblo of San Miguel Topilejo, at kilometer 42 of the Mexico-Cuernavaca Federal Highway. During the inspection, a white and burgundy truck with a load in the bed was detected by SSC and Profepa personnel.
